Mississippi has landed another professional golf event that will begin in 2018.
Century Club Charities and the Web.com Tour announced Tuesday afternoon that Country Club of Oxford will host the North Mississippi Classic April 16-22 beginning next season.
The three-year deal is in place through 2020. The first tournament will feature 156 golfers chasing a $550,000 purse.
“This community has demonstrated a passion for golf, and we are excited about the opportunity to partner with the Century Club Charities tournament team who have a proven track record in operating a successful PGA Tour event.”
The North Mississippi Classic will be the third annual PGA Tour-sanctioned event in the Magnolia State, joining the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson and the Mississippi Resort Classic on the coast.
Mississippi is now one of only five states to host an annual event on the PGA Tour, the Senior Tour and the Web.com Tour.
