When: 9 a.m. – Registration & 1st Session; 1 p.m. – 2nd Session
Cost: Free

Bring Your Books: If you have written a book(s), bring some and you can sell them at this event. We will have an area for this and also other information tables.

Workhop Info: Memphis, TN, journalist and author Daniel Connolly for the 1st session at 9 a.m. Daniel works for the Commercial Appeal, and in the fall of 2016 his long-awaited work, “The Book of Isaias” was available for purchase. Since then Daniel has traveled the country speaking at colleges, bookstores, and workshops. Check out his website here:
Daniel will speak on non-fiction writing, publishing, and marketing, as well as his five years researching and writing “The Book of Isaias.” He will conduct an interactive writing session and have plenty of time for a Q&A session. He will stay after his part of the day is finished to visit with attendees.
Lunch will be on your own this year (feel free to bring your own). Light snacks and beverages will be available throughout the day.
The 2nd session at 1 p.m. is a Sportswriter’s Workshop hosted by Jeff Roberson of Oxford Writes and The Ole Miss Spirit, and Webb Lewis of Southern Elite Sports. Other sports journalists will take part, which will consist of a panel discussion of reporting sports, a Q&A, and writing exercises. There will be information on social media in sports reporting and how sports stories are covered and written in this era. Joining this session will be panelists Parrish Alford of the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal in Tupelo, Chase Parham of the Ole Miss Rivals.com website, and Brian Scott Rippee, sports editor of the Daily Mississippian.
What You Need To Do: Email us back, please, if you plan to attend. Then show up on March 25 excited to join other writers and journalists for a day of conversation, interaction, networking, and learning. And bring someone with you.
