The MLK Day of Service will occur on Monday, January 16th, from noon to 5 pm. For this event, UM students, staff, and faculty, will join with local community members to participate in service projects to honor Dr. King’s legacy. Volunteers can register as individuals or in small groups (can be associated with an organization/club or can just be a group of friends – choose request reservation on the sign-up page).

We welcome volunteers of all ages, but volunteers under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All volunteers under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian signature on the volunteer waiver in order to participate. The form can be accessed ahead of time on the registration page; please consider printing and completing it prior to arrival.

The kick-off to the event will begin at 11:30 am at the Jackson Avenue Center (1111 Jackson Ave W, Oxford MS 38655). There will be a light lunch and short program before volunteers are dismissed to their service site. Volunteers should plan to wear long pants and closed toed shoes as some service sites will include work outside. The first 100 volunteers to register will be given priority on free t-shirts.

The registration page is here. You may be prompted to use the Ole Miss Single-Sign On system. This can be bypassed by selecting “click for more options” and creating a free GivePulse account with any valid email address. The last day to register is Monday, January 9th. For questions or concerns please contact the Center for Community Engagement by emailing engaged@olemiss.edu or calling 662-915-3195.
