Velvet Ditch Coffee is more than a café. Founded in Oxford in 2021 by Mississippi native Lesley Walkington, the specialty roaster takes its name from the town’s longtime nickname, a place known for pulling people in and making them feel at home. The focus is on small batch roasting and carefully sourced single origin beans that meet specialty grade standards, allowing the natural flavor of each coffee to come through cleanly in the cup.

The moment you walk in, the space feels warm and relaxed. It balances cozy and modern with a fireplace seating area, a small library wall, and a few communal games that make it welcoming whether you come alone or with friends. At the same time, the layout works well for getting things done, so you will often see visitors reading, studying, or working on laptops while the roaster runs in the background.
