Biking
Oxford has become a haven for cyclists, thanks to years of dedicated planning and investment in bike-friendly infrastructure. Today, riders can enjoy miles of scenic road bike paths and a variety of mountain bike trails—many just minutes from the historic Square.
Road Routes
Oxford has a number of road routes and a Pathways Commission that is dedicated to keeping the road safer for cyclists. To find out more about the Pathways Commission and see maps of different routes, please view the Lafayette Oxford University Pathways Map.
South Campus Rail Trail
Formerly known as the Whirlpool Trails or Thacker Mountain Rail Trail, the South Campus Rail Trail is a network of single tracks trails adjacent to the Ole Miss campus and easy cycling distance from downtown Oxford. Access to the trails is from the rail bed at the end of Chuck Mullins Drive/Front St.
Maps and more information can be found at the South Campus Rail Trail on the Ole Miss Campus Recreation website.
The Clear Creek Trail is a 30 minute drive from Oxford located near Clear Creek Landing by Sardis Lake. Selected as the best trail in Mississippi by Mountain Bike Magazine and host to the Clear Creek Challenge XC Race in September, the trail can be ridden as a complete 13 mile loop, a smaller 3 mile beginner loop, or an 8 mile beginner + intermediate loop.
